Angel Della Valle (October 10, 1852, Buenos Aires - July 16, 1903, Buenos Aires) is an Argentine realist painter who belonged to the " generation of the 1880s ."

Biography
Born into a family of Italian immigrants . His father was a foreman and worked on several large projects, having the opportunity to get his son to study at the prestigious private college of San Jose [2] . Angel showed a talent for art and a year after the death of his father in 1872, with the permission of his mother, he went to Italy. He studied under Antonio Chizeri in the Florence [3] .
Angel Della Valle returned to Argentina in 1883 and opened a workshop in his parents' house. As part of a group of artists, he founded the El Ateneo art salon, where writers and musicians also came. Among them were artists Augusto Ballerini , Eduardo Sivori , Ernesto de la Carcova and Reynaldo Giudici , sculptors Lucio Correa Morales and Francisco Cafferata . In 1893, members of the salon began to regularly hold art exhibitions in Argentina.
At first, Della Valle painted portraits. Among the most famous is the portrait of his childhood friend, Dr. Pedro Laglis (1855-1916), an outstanding ophthalmologist and one of his patients, President Julio Argentino Rock [4] .
The best works of Della Valle are village landscapes, gaucho , scenes from the everyday life of ordinary people. In 1892, he presented his most famous painting, The Return of Malon, which was exhibited the following year in the Argentinean pavilion at the World Exhibition in Chicago.
Della Valle also taught drawing for 18 years at the Sociedad de Estímulo de Bellas Artes (SEBA), founded in 1876 as the main national art school. The school occupied the upper floors of a department store, today known as Galerías Pacífico .
At the end of her life, Della Valle devoted his time to teaching young artists than painting. He died suddenly in a classroom lesson. One of his students, Tibon de Libian captured the last moments of Valle's life [5] .
