Timofey Ivanov was born in 1729 in the family of a coin man [1] . Since 1745, he became a student at the St. Petersburg Mint [2] . Due to the lack of mentors and medalists of the mint, the Scot Benjamin Scott arrived in St. Petersburg in 1751, Ivanov was appointed his ward. Timothy’s talent was noticed, and he was sent to the drawing class of the Academy of Sciences. Since 1762, Timofei Ivanov became the medalist of the St. Petersburg Mint . After receiving an academic education and adopting the experience of foreign colleagues working in the mint, Ivanov began to create works of authorship. He was entrusted with the development of a new profile portrait of Elizabeth Petrovna for coins, before that the portraits of the Empress for stamps were created by Benjamin Scott and Jacques-Antoine Dacier . As a result, Ivanov created a new portrait of the empress, adorning the obverse of the silver ruble ruins of 1757-1761 [1] . Timofey Ivanovich Ivanov worked remained a mint medalist until 1800. He died in 1803 [2] .
