History
In 1865, a railway was laid in these places, and Pedro José Ferrari donated land to the railway station, which in his honor was called "Ferrari".
In 1872, local residents began to think about creating a separate municipality, and in 1875 Pedro José Ferrari, who at that time was a justice of the peace, provided the authorities with a plan to create a municipality with an administrative center in the vicinity of the railway station; the municipality (and its administrative center) was proposed to be named after the French military , who fought for the independence of South America. The plan was approved, and 1876 was the year of the creation of both the municipality and the city.
In 1917, in order to unify the names, the Ferrari railway station was renamed Coronel-Brandsen.
