Biography
Born on March 5, 1956 in Saratov . In 1976 he graduated from the Saratov Theater School named after I. A. Slonov and at the invitation of the main director of the Tula Drama Theater, Rafail Rakhlin, was accepted into the troupe. From 1978 to 1980 - Matveev was in the service of the Soviet Army in the air defense forces.
Among the most prominent roles on the Tula scene are soldiers Peter Borodin (“Nightingale night”, 1984), Don Juan (“Don Juan”, 1988), Mercutio (“ Romeo and Juliet ”, 1990), Krechinsky (“Krechinsky's Wedding”, 1993 ), Count Almaviva (“ Crazy Day, or the Marriage of Figaro ”, 1994), Golden Eagles (“ Wolves and Sheep ”, 1995), Henry VIII (“The Royal Games”, 1996), Count Turbin - son (“Two Hussars”, 1997 ) Malvolio (“The Twelfth Night, or Anything ”, 1999), Stanley Pouni (“ Too Married Taxi Driver ”, 2004). On the big screen, Matveyev appeared in the films “The Wedding” (2000), “The Enemy at the Gates ” (2001), “The Heart of the Bear” (2001) and “Barabashka” (2004).
In 1984, Matveyev won the Tula Komsomol Prize. In 1993, Matveyev was awarded the title of Honored Artist of Russia . Three times awarded the gubernatorial prize "Triumph" (2000, 2002, 2004). In addition to working in the theater, he taught stage movement at the Tula College of Culture and Art.
On April 4, 2005, at the performance “Very Simple Love Story”, the actor suffered a heart attack while touring at the festival in Kaluga , and died on the way to the hospital Matveyev. [2] [3] The actor was buried in Tula on the central avenue of the Smolensk cemetery .
