Biography
Lodovico Cardi was born in the town of Cigoli, near Florence . From the name of the city came the name by which it became known. Chigoli's initial training took place in Florence under the guidance of Alessandro Allori . Later, under the influence of the most significant painters of that era, Santo di Tito , Correggio , Federico Baroccio , Cigoli's style was fully revealed. In addition to painting, Cigoli was engaged in architecture, his mentors in this area were Bernardo Buontalenti and Ostilio Ricci .
