History
The first inhabitants in the place where the road to Chile and Upper Peru crossed the Arrecife River appeared in the 1600s. In the XVIII century a church was built here, and by the end of the XVIII century a municipality was formed. In 1882, a railway came here.

Arresifes is considered the capital of Argentine motorsport.
