The winning team received the right to represent Canada as the “ Team Canada ” at the 2013 World Championships , which took place in April 2013 in Fredericton ( Canada ). Until 2013, the team that will represent Canada at the World Cup was identified in a series of matches between two teams made up of two players from the two best teams of the last Canadian curling championship among mixed teams [2] .
The champion (for the first time in the history of the championship) was the team of Robert Desjardins / Isabelle Néron , who defeated the Dustin Kalthoff / Nancy Martin team in the final. Bronze medals were won in the semi-finals of the team by Mark Dacy / Heather Smith-Dacy and Dean Hicke / Chantelle Eberle .

Tournament Format
At the first, group stage ( Eng. Robin round ) teams are divided into 4 groups of 8 teams and play in a circular system in one circle. The three best teams from each group go to the second stage, playoffs . At the playoff stage, conducted according to the Olympic system , in the first “round of 12 teams” ( English Round of 12 ) there are teams that took 2nd and 3rd places in the group stage. The winners of the “round of 12 teams” go to the quarter finals, where they meet with teams that took 1st place in the groups. The winners of the quarter finals meet in the semifinals, the winners of the semifinals in the finals. Match for 3rd place is not held. [3]
