Geography
Located in the department of Malargue in Western Argentina. An isolated massif on the eastern slope of the Andes [3] . It consists of a group of 300 volcanic objects with a maximum height of 3715 m. The subduction zone is more than 25 km [4] . Located in a sparsely populated area.
Geology
It is a shield volcano. The soils in the volcano region consist mainly of basalts , trachybasalts, basanite tephrites, picrobasalts, trachytes, trachidacites, andesites , etc. are also found. The diameter of the main shield is more than 20 km. At the top of the caldera with a diameter of 7 km, filled with lava trachyte and trachyandesite composition [2] . It consists of 300 eruptive centers located on the entire area of the volcano comprising 5200 sq. Km. During the formation of the volcano, lava flows reached a length of 181 km. During the activity of Payun Matru, 30 trachyandesite lava domes formed. There are many side craters on the slopes of the shield, from which a significant amount of congealed flows of alkaline olivine basalts emerge [2] . The last activity of the volcano appeared more than 7 thousand years ago. The last eruption is noted in local traditions of the natives. [four]
