DescriptionThe total length of representatives of this genus ranges from 60 cm to 1.3 m. The head is moderate in size, somewhat similar to the head of a turtle . There are 3 labial flaps, the second longer than the rest. There is a large ventral visor. 15-17 rows of scales pass through the body. Ventral scutes - 125-146. There are rudimentary teeth in the upper jaw behind the fangs. Color ranges from black or brown to yellow with or without light stripes.
LifestyleSpends life at sea and off the coast. Active at night, eat fish and fish caviar .
ReproductionThese are viviparous snakes.
DistributionThey live in the eastern part of the Indian Ocean and the western part of the Pacific Ocean .
