Biography
Born June 25, 1920 in Los Angeles , California . [3] She began her acting career in 1923, starring in Hal Roach ’s silent film Call of the Ancestors, [4] in which her sister, Peggy Ahern, also played a small role. [5] After that, Lassie Lou Ahern starred in several episodes of the Our Gang movie series produced by Hal Roach Studios. [6] In 1927, she took part in a casting for the role of little Harry in the movie Universal Studios , the film Uncle Tom’s Hut, and beat the rival boys and won. [4] Despite this success, her childhood acting career ended that same year, and the film Little Mickey Grogan was the last silent film with her participation and the only film where she played a major role. [7]
In 1932, Lassie Lou Ahern and her sister Peggy Ahern organized the duet The Ahern Sisters. The duo performed in nightclubs and hotels and included dancing and musical numbers. [7] In later years, she worked as a dance teacher, becoming a dance master for many novice stars. [7] In the 1970s, she appeared on television several times, playing small roles in the TV series Love in America, The Strange Couple, The Wizard and Petrocelli. [8] Died in Prescott , Arizona , February 15, 2018, from complications of the flu at the age of 97. [3]
