Mark Andreevich Retyunin (1908 - February 2, 1942) - leader of the Ust-Usinsky uprising of prisoners at the Lesoreid camp of the Vorkutlag of the NKVD in 1942, also called the " Retyuninsky ".

Biography
Born in the Arkhangelsk province, in a peasant family. In 1929 he was sentenced to 13 years in prison. 59-3 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR (banditry) for participating in a bank robbery. In 1938, released four years ahead of schedule for excellent production successes. Remained to work in Vorkutlag as a civilian. He was the head of the Kochmes OLP (separate camp site), later he took the post of the head of the forestry unit of the Lesoreid Vorkuta NKVD camp. In 1941, about 200 prisoners were detained at the Lesoreid camp, of which about 135 were political (Article 58), and in addition, 27 civilian employees worked at the camp.
Appearance and Character
Former prisoner V.V. Zubchaninov recalled:
I met with the chief of the raid Retyunin. He was one of those peasant guys who were tried as bandits during collectivization. He served time at the Vorkuta mines, where he led one of the best mining teams. After his release, he was made the head of a small lezzak, and now the Ust-Usinsky raid. He walked like a bear, his red-haired shaggy head was slightly tilted forward, and his eyes looked bearish, too. But it was a romantic. In his hut, standing on high stilts, lay a volume of Shakespeare. When I took it and opened it, Retyunin said:
- There was a man! and began to recite by heart:
- For those who fell to the lowest level,
- The rise is open, they have nowhere to fall.
- Dangers lurk at the top, And below we live in hope!
- Do you understand? We live in hope, the rise is open! This is not given to every worm " [2] .
