Biography
Jorge Jose Benitez began his football career in 1969 at Racing from Avellaneda . In 1973, the right-handed midfielder moved to Boca Juniors . Over 10 years of playing for the Genoese, he won the Argentine championship three times, won the Libertadores Cup twice, and also won the Intercontinental Cup in 1977 [1] . He played 305 matches in the Argentinean championship and scored 40 goals, and in all for Boku he played in 329 meetings (298 of them in the starting lineup).
In 1983-1985, the Union of Santa Fe , Deportivo Armenio and Guarani Antonio Franco performed, where he completed his professional career.
In 1977, Benitez played twice for Argentina.
At the end of his career as a footballer in the late 1990s, Benitez began working with the youthful Boca Juniors team. In November 2004, he became the acting head coach of Boki instead of the retired head coach Miguel Бngel Brindisi , with whom Benitez played in 1981-1982. He led the team to victory in the South American Cup and thanks to this he remained on the post of head coach of Boka [1] .
The team started the year 2005 unsuccessfully. In the quarter-final game of the Libertadores Cup against the Mexican Guadalajara , the Boca coach broke and spat on the best Chivas player Adolfo Bautista . The Argentine team lost a lot (0: 4) and flew out of the tournament. Because of this incident, Benitez was forced to leave his post, and Boca apologized to the Mexican team and Bofista Bautista personally. After this incident, Benitez only worked twice as a coach - in 2006 he led the Ecuadorian Deportivo Quito , and the Guatemalan City Cup in 2008 became his last coaching team [2] .
In the 2010s, Chino Benitez works as a sports analyst and represents Boca Juniors in various projects [3] .
