The women's 200-meter run competition at the 2018 European Athletics Championships was held on 10 and 11 August in Berlin at the Olympic Stadium .
Competitions were held according to the scheme, first tested at the previous European Championship : twelve best athletes of the summer season (but no more than three from the country) were directly allowed to participate in the semi-finals; the remaining participants started in the preliminary races, which resulted in the determination of the remaining semi-finalists [1] .
The current European champion in the 200 meter race was Dina Escher-Smith from the UK .

Final
The women's 200 meters final was held on August 11, 2018 [5] . 22-year-old Dina Escher-Smith defended the European champion title and won the second gold in the tournament: four days earlier she was the strongest in the 100-meter race . She became the 11th athlete who made the winning sprint double (100 and 200 meters) in the European Championship, and the first of the UK. Time Escher-Smith (21,89) was a new national record, the best result of the season in the world and the second result in the history of the tournament.
The current world champion from the Netherlands, Daphne Schippers, won a silver medal after bronze at a distance of 100 meters, her compatriot Jamile Samuel won the third prize [6] .
