Foundation History
Samguk yusa and Samguk saga describe the history of the foundation of Silla.
In present-day Gyeongsando , South Korea , six villages were located: Yansan-chong ( cor. 양 산촌 ? , 楊 山村? ), Koho-chong ( cor. 고허 촌 ? , 高 墟 村? ), Jinji-chon ( cor. 촌 ? , 珍 支 村? ), Tesu-Chong ( Kor. 대수 촌 ? , 大樹 村? ), Kari-Chhon ( Kor. 가리 촌 ? , 加利 村? ) And Koya-Chhon ( Kor. 고 야촌 ? , 高耶 村? ). [3]
In 69 BC. er The heads of the six chiefdoms gathered to discuss the formation of the kingdom and the selection of a new king. In a forest called Najong in Yansan-chhon, a strange light shone out of the sky, and a white horse stepped on the ground. The leader Koho-chhona discovered a large egg next to him. A boy came out of the egg, his body radiated light, and the birds and beasts danced.
The leaders raised the boy, and when he was 13, he was made king. After becoming king, he married Lady Alyong , who is said to have been born from the side of a dragon .
Historical Context
Silla's founding date is one of the mysteries for today, since the Samguk sagas were written in Silla, stating the superiority and antiquity of Silla over Goguryo and Paekche . In this book, it is believed that Silla was founded first, then Goguryou , and then Paekche . Archaeological evidence, however, paints a different picture, and there is suspicion that Goguryo is the oldest of the three kingdoms, but Silla developed either simultaneously with or after Paekce. .
Board
Based on the Samguk Saga, Hyokkose and his wife traveled the kingdom in 41 BC. er helping people improve their yields. People praised them as two saints [1] .
In 37 BC er the capital of the state was founded, which was called Sorabol ( cor. 서라벌 ? , 徐 羅 伐? ), Kerim or Kymson ( cor. ? , 金城? ), and in 32 BC. er a royal palace was built inside [4] [5] .
China invaded Silla in 28 BC. er however, seeing that people enjoyed piles of grain and did not close their doors at night, they called Silla a moral nation and retreated [4] .
In 20 BC er , the ruler of the Makhan confederation demanded tribute. Silla sent Minister Hogun , but the king was angry because the minister was sent, not a tribute. Hogun criticized the ruler’s actions. The king got angry at him and tried to kill him, but the closest subordinates stopped the king, and the minister was allowed to return to Silla.
Death
Hekkos ruled for about 60 years and established a state that would unite the Korean Peninsula for the first time in 668 . [6]
He maintained control of his kingdom and was one of the few rulers of the Pak clan who owned all of Silla. He died at the age of 73, and the eldest son Namhe became his successor.
Heritage
Although little is known about Hoekkos, his many legacies and reminders have survived to this day. He founded the surname Pak, which is known as the third most popular in Korea . Another legacy was the kingdom he founded. Despite the fact that his descendants eventually lost power over Silla, the fact that he founded it is very important, because it is one of the most important and influential events in Korean history.
