Career
Club career
Halfan began his football career at the Mtibva Sugar club, where in two seasons, 2005/06 and 2006/07, he played in 57 matches, in which he scored 16 goals [1] .
He spent the 2007/08 season in the Middle East: first he played for the Al-Tadamon club of the Kuwaiti Premier League , then he played for the Tadamon Sur club of the Lebanese Premier League .
In 2008, he returned to the Premier League of Tanzania to play for Moro United .
The scouts of the league club Vancouver Whitecaps spotted Halfan in a friendly match with the national team of Tanzania on March 14, 2009. The Tanzanian midfielder joined the Canadian club on August 13, 2009, the transfer amount was not announced [1] . In the remainder of the 2009 season, he played in 14 games, including five playoff games, after which he signed a new one-year contract for the 2010 season [2] [3] . He scored his first goal for Whitecaps on June 12, 2010 in a match against Austin Aztex [1] . After the transformation of Vancouver Whitecaps into the MLS franchise, on February 9, 2011 he signed a new one-year contract with the club [4] [5] . March 18, 2011 in the debut match of Whitecaps in the Premier League, in which Toronto was beaten with a score of 4: 2, he replaced the second half instead of David Ciumiento [6] . On October 6, 2011, in a match against Real Salt Lake , he scored his first goal in MLS [7] . On November 23, 2011, Vancouver Whitecaps expelled Halfan and was selected by the Philadelphia Union [8] [9] [10] in the MLS rejection draft. However, three months later, on February 22, 2012, and the Union expelled him [11] .
Returning to Tanzania, from 2012 to 2015 he played for the Young Africans club, with whom he twice became the champion of the country twice in the seasons 2012/13 and 2014/15. He spent the 2015/16 season as part of the Mwadi United club. Since 2016, she has been playing for Singida United .
International Career
Halfan made his debut for the Tanzanian national team on April 1, 2006 in an unofficial friendly match with the Zanzibar national team . His official debut took place on September 2, 2006 in a match against Burkina Faso as part of the 2008 African Cup of Nations qualifying tournament , in which he also scored his first goal for the Tanzanian national team. He took part in qualifying matches of the world championships 2006 and 2010 .
