Biography
Anatoly Anatolyevich was born on October 4, 1944 in the city of Tehran ( Iran ) in a family of Soviet diplomats [1] . Then, together with his parents, he lived in Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania.
Training
From 1961 to 1966, he studied at the Moscow Institute of the National Economy of the Petrochemical and Gas Industry named after M. I. Gubkin (current Russian State University of Oil and Gas named after I. M. Gubkin ) with a degree in Chemical Technology, graduating with qualification "Engineer-technologist" and a diploma with honors.
From 1967 to 1970 - studied at the graduate school of the Institute of Chemical Physics. N. N. Semenov of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (current Institute of Chemical Physics named after N. N. Semenov of the Russian Academy of Sciences ).
Degree
1971 - defended his thesis, receiving the degree of candidate of chemical sciences in the specialty "High molecular weight compounds."
1989 - defended his doctoral dissertation "Kinetics and the mechanism of chemical reactions of stressed systems - cycles and polymers" [2] .
Academic title
April 15, 1992 - he was awarded the academic title of professor.
Work
From 1970 to 1994 - was a research fellow at the Institute of Chemical Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences .
Since 1994 - heads the laboratory of physical chemistry of synthetic and natural polymer compositions at the Institute of Biochemical Physics named after N. M. Emanuel RAS ( IBChF RAS ) and is the Deputy Director for Scientific Activities of the IBChF RAS [3] .
Since 1989 - Professor A. A. Popov heads the Department of Chemistry (now the Basic Department of Chemistry of Innovative Materials and Technologies) at the G. V. Plekhanov Russian University of Economics ( REU named after G. V. Plekhanov ) [4] .
Founder
In 2013 - with the assistance of A. A. Popov in the REU named after G. V. Plekhanova was established a research laboratory "Advanced Composite Materials and Technologies" [5] .
In 2014, on his initiative, the University established the Collective Use Center “Scientific Equipment” [6] .
In 2015, he founded and leads the scientific school Chemistry and Technology of Polymer Materials at the University.
Educational Activities
Since 1989 A. Popov has been teaching lectures, practical and laboratory classes in the disciplines: “Chemistry”, “General Chemistry”, “Organic Chemistry”, “Physical and Colloid Chemistry”, “Biochemistry”, “Food Chemistry”, “ Concepts of modern natural sciences ”in REU named after G.V. Plekhanov . Professor IB Popov conducts classes for graduate students in the discipline "Concepts of modern science." Under the guidance of A. A. Popov, 9 candidate dissertations were defended [7] .
Scientific activity
A. A. Popov has priority [2] in the scientific direction “Reactivity of structurally strained organic systems-cycles and macromolecules”, which is reflected in various monographs published in Russia and in other countries. The team of his laboratory at the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry, Russian Academy of Sciences, developed the scientific subject of the influence of structural stresses on the kinetics of chemical reactions. A comparison of the kinetic laws of the reactions of cyclic hydrocarbons and polymers under load allowed us to create a theory of reactivity of strained polymers. This direction continues to develop his students. In addition, A. A. Popov studies the influence of external factors (mechanical stresses, chemical modification, oxidation, impurities and additives, etc.) on the structure and molecular dynamics of polymers and composite materials. Since the early 2000s, A. A. Popov's area of scientific interest has also included the development of composite materials capable of accelerated degradation in the environment ( biodegradable polymers ). In this direction, 3 patents of the Russian Federation were obtained (2473578 [8] ; 2451697 [9] ; 2540273 [10] ). The team of A. A. Popov made the most progress in studying the biodegradation of polymer materials under the influence of model chemical and biological media, as well as under the combined influence of environmental factors.
Rewards
Since 1996, A. A. Popov was regularly awarded the State Scientific Scholarship for outstanding scientists in accordance with the Order of the President of the Russian Federation of June 14, 1995.
In 1999, the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences , Academician Yu. S. Osipov, was thanked for the fruitful scientific work (RP RAS 3105-254 of June 8, 1999)
From 2002 to 2005, he won the Moscow Grant contest in the field of science and technology in the field of education, held four times by the Moscow Government and the Department of Education of the city.
2008 - Candidate for Corresponding Member of the Department of Chemistry and Materials Science of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences, specializing in High Molecular Compounds.
2010 - awarded the honorary title of Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation [13] .
2012 - awarded the medal "In memory of Academician N.M. Emanuel "for achievements in the field of chemical and biochemical physics [14] .
