Ethiopia-Eritrea Peace Treaty is a treaty signed at the Asmara Summit on July 9, 2018. The treaty put an end to the war between Ethiopia and Eritrea , which began 20 years ago. Although the fighting between Ethiopia and Eritrea ended in 2000, due to territorial differences, the states remained in a state of military conflict. [one]
The agreement was signed by Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali and Eritrean President Isayas Afeverki [2] .
Earlier, the leaders of Ethiopia and Eritrea agreed to restore diplomatic relations between the countries. The Minister of Information of Eritrea said that the signing of the declaration means the end of the state of war between the two countries, and the countries agreed on cooperation in the field of politics, economy, culture and security.
