Biography

Konstantin Pavlovich Lagutenko was born in the city of Gomel, Mogilev province, in the family of accountant Pavel Ivanovich Lagutenko. Mother - Evdokia Olimpievna, was the daughter of a gifted original amateur artist Olimpia Kosenkova, who worked hard and hard in watercolor from nature. In essence, he was the first painting teacher of his grandson Konstantin.

In 1925, Konstantin moved to Moscow and went to work on the construction of the Kazan railway station ( Kazan railway station ) and the Central House of Culture of Railway Workers ( TsDKZH ), where his older brother Vitaly [3] worked under the direction of architect Shchusev [4] .

For some time, the brothers Vitaly and Konstantin lived in the family of A. V. Schusev, which significantly influenced their further creative fate: Vitaly Pavlovich became a major Soviet architect, the Hero of socialist labor (author of the famous "Khrushchev five-story buildings"), and Konstantin Pavlovich became an artist, member Union of Artists of the USSR.

An important role in the formation and development of the realistic aspirations of Konstantin Lagutenk was played by the artist and poet Pavel Radimov [5] , who later became his closest friend. In the late 1920s, Pavel Radimov was the co-chair of the Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia ( AHRR ) and the last chairman of the Association of Artists-Wanderers ( Association of Wanderers ).

A few years before arriving in Moscow, Konstantin Pavlovich began an active creative life of the artist-designer. He created a series of posters, cartoons, cartoons, leaflets and slogans aimed at combating the enemies of the young republic of the Soviets. He participated in the design of the “GROWTH Satire Windows” ( GROWTH Windows ), mastering the art of political graphics.

From 1927 to 1930, Konstantin Pavlovich went a long way in mastering the skills of a professional artist-painter of a realistic direction: first at the courses of the Academy of Arts, then with professor I. I. Mashkov [6] at the Higher Art and Technical Institute (VKHUTEIN), founded in 1926 on base VKHUTEMASa and existing until 1930.

After 1929, Konstantin Lagutenok constantly participated in Moscow, republican and international exhibitions.

Unfortunately, the artist’s creative plans interrupted the wars in which he volunteered: the Soviet-Finnish War (1939-1940) and the Great Patriotic War . [7] In these wars, the artist painted a lot from life - portraits of soldiers, front-line sketches. On the basis of these sketches after 1945 he created numerous canvases. For example, portraits of war heroes - in particular, Hero of the Soviet Union, pilot Rudneva ( Rudneva, Evgenia Maksimovna ). Many paintings from the post-war period are multi-figured compositions with episodes of the war, for example: Night Intelligence, The Defeat of the German Headquarters, etc. A photograph taken in 1951 shows the artist showing a picture representing the genre composition Son of the Regiment ", The author of the novel of the same name Valentin Kataev [8] .

In the period from 1945 to 1978, the artist did not stop working - he painted numerous paintings of various genres: portraits, still lifes, landscapes, genre compositions. Ilya Mashkov’s pupil, Konstantin Lagutenok, in his post-war work preserved the best traditions of Russian pictorial landscape and still life - especially in the landscapes of the Upper Volga and Moscow Region and in still lifes with flowers and fruits of Russian gardens.

Pictures of K.P. Lagutenka are distinguished by a delicate taste, an original memorable palette, compositional grace.

Konstantin Pavlovich died in 1978. He was buried in Moscow at the Vagankovsky cemetery .
