Geography
Minshan Mountains are a spur of the Kunlun mountain system. They go north to south in the southern part of Gansu province and the northern part of Sichuan province (in the eastern part of the Ngava-Tibet-Qiang Autonomous Region and the surrounding areas of the Mianyang urban district). The length is about 1,500 km. The highest point is Mount Xuebaodingshan (5588 m).
The Minshan Mountains are a watershed of two large rivers in the Sichuan province: the Minjiang River flows to the west of them, and the Jialingjiang River to the east.
History
The Lazzykou mountain pass (in the territory of the Tevo county of Gansu province) in the Minshan mountains became in 1935 one of the most serious obstacles to the troops of the Chinese Communists who made the Great Campaign .
