Biography
Erzhena Zhambalova was born on January 1, 1965 in the Alarsky district of the Ust-Orda Buryat Autonomous District . Even as a child, she moved with her parents to Ulan-Ude [2] .
After studying at the secondary school, Ergen Zhambalova entered the Leningrad State Institute of Theater, Music and Cinematography with a degree in “Actress of Dramatic Theater and Cinema”, from which she graduated in 1987. From 1987 to 1989 she completed an internship at LGITMiK.
In 1990 she returned to Buryatia and entered the service in the State Buryat Academic Drama Theater named after H. Namsaraeva .
From 1997 to 2002, Zhambalova worked as an acting teacher in the theatrical art department of the East-Siberian Academy of Culture and Arts . In August 2000, she was appointed Director of the Buryat State Philharmonic Society by order of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus.

Creativity
In 1992, Ergen Zhambalova, together with her husband, the actor of the State Automobile and Arms Theater of Ukraine, create the theater of the song “Uyanga”. She writes music to the verses of Sayan. These songs, revelations differ philosophical reflection on life, on the eternal human values - love, birth, mother, motherland, about where and what the roots of the Buryat people.
Family duet Zhambalovs with solo concert programs “Kapel”, “Rain of Dreams” traveled all districts of Buryatia. The concerts of Ergena and Sayan Zhambalovs in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Irkutsk, Chita, Agin and Ust-Ordyn Buryat autonomous districts were successfully held. And always in the concerts the listeners were bribed with both the meaning and the content of their songs, as well as the high culture and special confidence of the performance, soft merging voices.
In 1993, two audio albums were released with recording of author songs by Ergena and Sayan Zhambalov.
In 1995, the Zhambalovs became Laureates of the International Competition of Pop Art Performers in Ulan Bator. In the same year, the book of poems and songs “Sayan and Ergen Zhambalovy” was published.
In 1996, the Zhambalovs created the rock band “Uragshaa”, where the intonations and originality of the Buryat melodic language are organically merged with modern rhythms. Concerts of the group “Uragsha” cause genuine interest and popularity among young people. In turn, the performers set themselves the task of aesthetic and moral education of the younger generation through songs, rock compositions.
In Beijing, in 1997, the Uragsha CD was released. Creativity of the group is well known not only in Buryatia, but also in Mongolia, China, Ust-Orda, Agin districts. With great success, Ergen and Sayan Zhambalovy performed at festivals in Mongolia with the Bayan-Mongol variety orchestra.
Ergena is well known to the residents of the Republic of Buryatia and as the announcer of the studio “ Tivikom ”, where she fruitfully, with great dedication and interest, worked in parallel with the concert performances.
Since 1996, Erzhen Zhambalov has paid much attention to the study of Buryat folk art. To this end, she makes annual expeditions to the areas of Buryatia, Ust-Orda, Aga in order to collect folklore material, record legends, songs and legends.
Ergena Zugdarovna participates in international projects of the World Music Institute in New York and annually together with the La Mama Theater ( New York , USA ) gives performances based on Buryat legends and tales using Buryat folk songs.
In 1997, she began teaching at the East-Siberian Academy of Culture and Arts, conducting acting classes with students of the national Buryat acting studio. In 1999, the actor’s studio staged the play “Rain of Dreams”, based on the author’s songs of Ergena and Sayan Zhambalov.
A great public resonance among theatrical figures and the tremendous success of the audience was caused by the performance of the acting studio “Uleyskie girls”, based on the legends and folklore song material of Irkutsk Buryats. One of the authors of the libretto and musical designer of the play was Erzhen Zhambalova. “Uleysk girls” represented the theater art of Buryatia at the World Theater Olympiad in Moscow in April-May 2001 and was marked by criticism as one of the clearest examples of turning into folk sources, a beautiful embodiment of modern themes in conjunction with folk images on stage. The direct, lively, inspirational play of the studio students was highly appreciated.
This performance was shown with great success at the International Festival of Mongolian Theaters in Ulaanbaatar.
A significant event in the creative fate of Zhambalova was the fact that the song “Star of a Nomad” (music by E. Zhambalova, verses by B. Dugarov) became the Laureate of the Republican contest “Best Song of the Century” in the nomination “Amateur composer”.
In August 2000, Zhambalova was appointed director of the Buryat State Philharmonic. Despite the insufficient financing of the philharmonic society, Ergena Zugdarovna is seeking funds, sponsorship for the implementation of the creative plans of the philharmonic groups, the renovation of the concert hall, the acquisition of new theater chairs, etc. A new form of cultural and leisure activities have become the New Year shows “Christmas parties”, which were a great success with the audience.
Ergena Zhambalova organizes tours of prominent artists in Ulan-Ude . A significant event in the musical life of the Republic of Buryatia was the concert of a talented Mongolian singer, Honored Artist of Mongolia Ayurzany Dolgor. As the head of a cultural institution, Zhambalova devotes a lot of effort to establishing creative and business ties with cultural institutions of Mongolia, invites Mongolian specialists to work with the philharmonic groups.
A talented actress and singer, author of music for songs and performances of the Buryat drama theater, a bright creative person with excellent organizational skills, Zhambalova is well known in Buryatia, she enjoys great prestige and respect among public figures and cultural workers [3] .
