Cinema “Metalist” is a constructivist building in the Leninsky district of Novosibirsk , in which the city’s first sound cinema operated from 1932 to 1995.

Location
The cinema building is located opposite the Glory Square in the quarter between the streets of Parkhomenko , Vatutina , Blucher , Titov and Rimsky-Korsakov .
History
The first sound cinema in the city was built by the Sibmetallstroy plant as part of the creation of a socialist city on the left bank of Novosibirsk.
The opening of the cinema took place on October 22, 1932, on this day the films “Cases and People” and “Storm” were shown to visitors.
November 25, 1932 in the cinema "Metalist" showed the first sound film in the city - "A trip to life ."
In the 1950s, the cinema was reconstructed. The hall became 7 meters higher, its capacity was 1000 people, “Metalist” became widescreen. On April 15, 1957, the reconstructed cinema with stereo sound reproduction was open to visitors, the films “Comrade Goes to Sea” and “Happy Youth” were shown.
The cinema operated until 1995.
Demolition
On August 2, 2018, the demolition of the cinema building began. On the same day, after the dismantling work began, a message appeared on the website of the state protection of cultural heritage objects of the Novosibirsk Region that Metallist was included in the list of identified cultural heritage sites. This decision was made on August 1, 2018 after receiving a conclusion and documents “on the establishment of historical and cultural value”. Further demolition of the building was prohibited [1] [2] [3] [4] .
