Pinyόs ( Greek Δήμος Πηνειού [2] ) is a community (dim) in Greece in the northwestern part of the Peloponnese peninsula on the coast of Helonitis Gulf of the Ionian Sea in the peripheral unit of Elis in the periphery of Western Greece . The population of 21,034 inhabitants according to the 2011 census [2] . An area of 161.496 square kilometers [1] . The density of 130.24 people per square kilometer [2] . The administrative center is Gastuni . Aleksios Kastrinos ( Αλέξιος Καστρινός ) was elected as the Dimarch in the local elections of 2014.

Named along the Pignos River. It was created in 2010 ( ΦΕΚ 87Α ) under the Kallikratis program at the merger of the abolished communities of Bartholomion, Gastuni and Traganon [3] .
