Qualification: qualification standard 60.50 m (Q) or holders of 12 best results (q) [1] [2] [3] .
Competitions were held in two qualification groups on August 9, 2018. 23 participants entered the sector. Kristin Hussong set a personal record and showed the best result in the history of qualifying for the European Championship for a new spear (since 1999).

Final
The main competition in women's javelin throwing was held on August 10, 2018 [4] . The fate of the gold medal was decided in the first attempt, when the German Kristin Hussong set a new record for the European Championships - 67.90 m. Until the end of the competition, none of her rivals could throw a shell even beyond 62 meters. Hussong was ahead of silver medalist Nikolai Ogrodnikov by 6 meters 5 centimeters; only Ruth Fuchs of the GDR had a greater advantage over second place in 1978 (6.76 m). Liveta Jasunaite won the bronze medal, becoming the first javelin thrower from Lithuania to win the European Championship [5] .
