Kristia, Alexandru

Alexandru Cristia ( rum. Alexandru Cristea ; 1890 - 1942 ) - composer , conductor and author of the National Anthem of Moldova .

He taught at the music school (1928) and at the conservatory (1927-1929) in Chisinau. He worked as a choirmaster (1920-1940), conductor of the boys choir at the gymnasium in Bucharest (1940-1941). Later, between 1941 and 1942 he directed the choir at the Chisinau school. In 1920, he was ordained deacon; from 1927 to 1941 - deacon of the cathedral in Chisinau. In the 1930s, he transferred the poem of the poet Alexei Mateevich “Our Language” ( Limba noastră ) to music; in 1994, the composition became the official national anthem of Moldova.
