Chaynichsky Gospel

The Chinichsky Gospel is a medieval manuscript book of the 15th century. The only manuscript of the heretical Bosnian church stored in Bosnia and Herzegovina . It is owned by the Serbian Orthodox Church and is kept in the Museum of the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Church of the Ascension of Christ in the Tea House .

The book was created at the beginning of the 15th century, judging by the linguistic characteristics, on the territory of Eastern Bosnia . It is written on parchment with semi- cursive cursive of the Bosnian type . Five scribes took part in the writing, who alternately rewrote the text, using three samples. On some pages you can find later glagolic inscriptions. Illustrations are almost completely absent. The only drawing - the figure of Korolevich Marco , which does not fit into the theme of the book - is drawn extremely clumsy and takes up a whole page. Parchment in places is badly damaged and the text on it is unreadable. The rest of the manuscript is in relatively good condition, but when compared with photographs from the 1960s, the appearance of dark spots was noted, which arose as a result of individual cases of improper storage of the book and, probably, caused by parasites ^[1] .

The size of the sheet is 19.5 × 15 cm, the size of the text on the page is 14.5 × 10–10.5 cm. The number of rows ranges from 18 to 23 per page, but on most pages it is 20–22 rows ^[1] . The damaged manuscript has 167 sheets. There is no beginning of the Gospel from Matthew to 7: 2 and from 23:18 to 24:14, the Gospel of Luke from 22:62 to the end and the entire Gospel of John ^[2] .
