History

The village was founded in the early 18th century on the estates of Tarnovsky County and named after the hereditary heir. Soon after, the village itself became the center of individual land holdings.

In the mid-19th century, Adamow belonged to the Zaluski family, and at the beginning of the 20th century to Count Vitold Low. In 1920, the land holdings of the latter in Adamuw, Bondir and Chevnia occupied a total area of 3471 hectares of agricultural land.

According to the census of 1827, the village was located in Zamoysky district and at the Pototche volost. At that time, it consisted of 21 houses and 131 residents.

In the interwar period, Adam belonged to the community of Sukhovol Zamovsky district. According to the first census of 1921 in revived Poland, the village had 49 houses and 266 inhabitants, including 14 Orthodox.

During the September 1939 campaign (September 23-25), fierce battles of the Polish cavalry units of General W. Anders and the 39th and 41st Infantry Divisions with the German VII Corps were fought near the village (mainly in Zhania).

On the night of June 29 and 30, 1943, the Nazis tried to deport people from the village, who, however, managed to escape into the forest. About 30 people were captured, remaining in the village and deported to a camp in Zamosc. After the German action, the population returned home.
