Description

Small ants are brown in color, about 5-7 mm long. The following characters differ from related species: there are no hairs below the head ( Camponotus claripes has bristles there), the propodeum is convex from above ( Camponotus eremicus is flat), the upper surface of the posterior thorax is larger than the posterior (species group claripes ), the scapus and lower legs are not short hairs. The antennae of workers and females are 12-segmented, attached at the posterior edge of the clypeus . Mandibles wide triangular. Chest and stalk smooth without spines. The mesosome is convex. The first tergite is less than half the length of the abdomen. The stalk between the breast and the abdomen is one-segmented (consists of a petiol with a small scale). The mandibular palps of the workers are 6-segmented, the lower labial palps composed of 4 segments. Metapleural gland and sting are absent [1] [2] [3] [4] .
