Final
The main competitions in hammer throwing for women took place on August 12, 2018 [4] . Anita Vlodarchik once again confirmed her superiority in this discipline. Four of her five successful attempts were farther than the silver medalist, and the best of them (78.94 m) was the new competition record. For the fourth time in a row, the world record holder and two-time Olympic champion from Poland became the European champion. This success came to her at the stadium, where in 2009 she achieved her first big victory in her career, winning the gold of the World Cup . Since 2012, Wlodarczyk has not lost a single main start of the season (Olympic Games, World Cup, European Championship) and has improved the world record several times [5] .
Frenchwoman Alexandra Tavernier set a new country record and became a silver medalist. The bronze medal of the championship for the second time in her career was won by another thrower from Poland, Joanna Fedorov (the first time she was a medalist in 2014 ) [6] .
