Rushaka, Khalid

Khalid Yahya Rushaka ( Swahili Khalid Yahya Rushaka ; born April 26, 1980 ) is a Tanzanian swimmer who specializes in freestyle swimming . He played for the Tanzania swimming team in the second half of the 2000s, a participant in the World Cup in Melbourne and the Summer Olympic Games in Beijing . Biography

Khalid Rushak was born on April 26, 1980. He started swimming in early childhood at the direction of his father, at first he trained on his own on YouTube videos , later he trained at the UDSM swimming club in Dar es Salaam under the guidance of coach John Belela. For his unprecedented ability to swim, he received the nickname "Tanzan Dolphin."

He first made himself known at the adult international level in the 2007 season, when he joined the main team of the Tanzanian national team and attended the World Aquatics Championships in Melbourne , where he performed 50 and 100 meters freestyle.

Thanks to a series of successful performances, he attracted the attention of the Tanzania Olympic Committee and won the right to defend the honor of the country at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing - thus becoming the first Tanzanian swimmer to compete in the Olympic Games. He started in the third qualification men's 50m freestyle and showed a time of 28.50 seconds, settling down at 84 positions in the overall standings and failing to reach the next semifinal stage [1] .

After completing his sports career, he studied at the ISR Academy in Busan , South Korea . Returning to his homeland, he began creating the Olympic swimming program in Tanzania, coaching in his own sports club Arusha, created to train talented Tanzan swimmers who are not able to train in foreign schools. He is the founder and CEO of Sports Network Tanzania. Heads the national swimming team of Tanzania [2] .
