Most Alexa devices start a conversation using an activation phrase (for example, Alexa); others, such as a smartphone, require you to press the power button. Alexa is available in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish [3] and Japanese. In Canada, Alexa is available in English and French (with a Quebec accent) [4] [5] .
As of September 2017, Amazon had more than 5,000 employees in teams working on Alexa and related products [6] . In January 2019, the Amazon team reported the sale of more than 100 million devices with Alexa support [7] .
