Biography
Born in a Jewish family, received a secondary education . Member of the Communist Party since 1917. In 1918, Secretary of the Military Control Department of the Revolutionary Military Council of the Republic of Soviets . Since 1919 Secretary of the Special Department of the Cheka . From February 1920 to July 1926 Secretary of the Cheka-OGPU Chairman F. E. Dzerzhinsky , at the same time from 1922 Assistant Manager of the OGPU . He did much to collect documents for F. E. Dzerzhinsky's biography, working in the Commission to perpetuate his memory. Since 1936, Assistant Head of the Secretariat of the NKVD of the USSR . Since 1938, Head of the Central Council of the Sports Society "Dynamo" .
Arrested on March 3, 1938. Accused of participating in a counter-revolutionary terrorist organization. During the investigation, he confessed that he was spying for the benefit of Latvia and Poland . At trial, he said: “As a result, torture and torture were forced to sign false testimony. The investigator Rhodes acted. They were beaten for nine days in a row ... If my guilt is proved, then I will calmly accept the execution. ” Shot by sentence of the Supreme Military Council of the USSR USSR on January 26, 1940. He was buried at Donskoy Cemetery. [1] Rehabilitated posthumously on November 5, 1955.
