Previously, the bishop of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kiev Patriarchate , Bishop Vladimir-Volyn and Turii (2017—2018).
Biography
In 1988 he graduated from high school in Zokal (I — III levels) and entered vocational school No. 3, which he graduated in 1991.
In 1992 he entered the Kiev Theological Seminary and in the first year entered the novices into the Feodosiyevsky monastery of the city of Kiev.
On December 13, 1992, he was tonsured a monk with the name Matthew and ordained Metropolitan Anthony (Masendich) to the rank of hierodeacon .
February 9, 1993 was ordained to the priesthood.
From May 18, 1993 to February 1994, he served in the Nikolaevsky male monastery of the city of Bohuslav .
In April 1994, he joined the clergy of the Volyn Diocese of the UOC-KP and was appointed rector of the Church of St. Archangel Michael in the village of Verba , Vladimir-Volyn district.
On November 22, 1995, he was appointed rector of the Cathedral of St. George the Victorious in the city of Vladimir-Volynsk .
In 1996, he graduated from the Volyn Theological Seminary and entered the Lvov Theological Academy, which he graduated in 2000, having defended a thesis on the topic “The Law of the Church in Ukraine” (“Byzantine Church Law in Ukraine”).
On March 10, 2006, he was relieved of his post as head of the Cathedral of the Holy Great Martyr George the Victorious in connection with his transfer to the Kiev Metropolitan Church and enlisted in the Brotherhood of the Theodosievsky Monastery in the city of Kiev.
On November 15, 2006, he was appointed secretary of the Patriarch of Kiev and All Russia-Ukraine, Philaret (Denisenko) .
Bishop service
December 17, 2006 in the Vladimir Cathedral was ordained to the rank of bishop of Drohobych and Samborsky [2] .
On January 23, 2012, he was appointed Bishop Vladimir-Volynsky, Vicar Bishop of the Volyn Diocese [3] .
On January 23, 2017, in connection with the establishment of the Holy Synod of the UOC-KP Vladimir-Volyn Diocese , he was elected its first ruling bishop [4] .
