Biography

Father, Boris Vladimirovich Shabat - mathematician, professor of Moscow State University in the department of functional analysis. Mother, Elena Aleksandrovna Makarova, is a senior researcher at the State Astronomical Institute. P.K.Sternberg Moscow State University .

He graduated from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Moscow State University (1959), defended his thesis in the department of differential equations under the guidance of Professor M. I. Vishik .

In 1959-1973, Jr., senior researcher at the Institute of Hydrodynamics of the Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences (Novosibirsk). In 1963 he defended his thesis “On Gluing Potential and Vortex Flows of an Incompressible Fluid” at the Institute of Mathematics of the Siberian Branch of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (Novosibirsk) under the supervision of Academician M. A. Lavrentiev.

In 1975 he defended his doctoral dissertation "Transformation Operators and Nonlinear Equations" at the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Moscow State University.

From 1974 to 1990, in the Department of Physics and Mathematics of the Ural Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences and Bashkir State University (Ufa); Since 1980, Senior Researcher, Head. Laboratory of the Institute of Mathematics.

Since 1990, chief, since 1993 a leading researcher at the Institute of Theoretical Physics, Russian Academy of Sciences L. D. Landau (Chernogolovka city); simultaneously with 2007 professor at the Karachay-Cherkess University ( Karachayevsk ).

Doctor of physico-mathematical sciences (1977), professor (1979).

Together with V.E. Zakharov, he created the method of the inverse scattering problem (1971) (Zakharov-Shabat method) and a scientific school on the theory of nonlinear waves.

The author of more than 120 scientific papers.

Laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation in the field of science and technology (1993).
