Rwandan-Tanzanian relations are bilateral diplomatic relations between Rwanda and Tanzania . The length of the state border between the countries is 222 km [1] .

History
In 1994, about a million Rwandans fled the country to Tanzania fleeing genocide [2] . In the 2010s, the Tanzanian government accused Rwanda of supporting militants in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo , which negatively affected relations between the countries [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] . In 2016, the President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame , paid a state visit to Tanzania, where he held talks with President John Magufuli . Both leaders emphasized the importance of diplomatic relations between the countries, and also announced their intentions to further develop economic and political ties [9] .
Trade
In 2011, trade between countries amounted to 106.54 billion Tanzanian shillings [10] . In 2014, the volume of trade between countries amounted to 70.8 million US dollars . In 2015, Tanzania was Rwanda's third largest trading partner, with a turnover of $ 68 million. 70% of Rwandan goods enter the world market through a port in Dar es Salaam [11] [12] .
