Competitions in diving from a ten-meter tower for men at the 2016 Summer Olympics were held from August 19 and 20 at the Maria Lenk Water Center . The competition was attended by 28 athletes from 18 countries.
2012 Olympic champion in this discipline American David Budaya was included in the US team to participate in the Games in Rio de Janeiro. Budaya was able to break into the final of the competition and fought for the victory until the last jump, but the unsuccessful final jump allowed him to win only a bronze medal.
The winner of the gold medal was the Chinese jumper Chen Aisen , who thus became a two-time Olympic champion. He won the first gold on August 8, becoming the first in synchronized jumping , speaking in tandem with Lin Yue . The representative of China for the first time since 2004 was able to win jumping from the tower. The last Chinese champion in this kind of program was Hu Jia . The silver medal of the Games in 2016 was won by the Mexican Herman Sanchez , ahead of David Budaya in the final jump.
The surprise was the failure in the semi-finals of the British jumper Tom Daily , who showed the best result in the preliminary round. Daily unsuccessfully completed the 2nd, 3rd and 6th jumps and took last place in the semifinals. The result of the Daily in the preliminary round would allow him to take first place in the semifinals and second in the final.
