Alpika-Servis is a former ski resort in the Adler district of the city of Sochi ( Krasnodar Territory ), now part of the mountain tourist center of OAO Gazprom .
History
The facilities of the complex were located on the territory of the village of Esto-Sadok in the Krasnaya Polyana settlement district on the slopes of the Aibga ridge. The difference in elevation on the ski runs of the resort is 1698 m (from 540 m to 2238 m) - according to this indicator, the resort was one of the ten largest altitude differences among the ski resorts of the world. [1] In 2008, the ski complex facilities were transferred to Gazprom and underwent reconstruction [2] . At the site of the ski complex, a mountain-climatic resort of the same name functioned [3] , which, being a transport hub, offered excursions to the Psekho ridge along the new cable cars of Gazprom. In the territory adjacent to the complex a luge and bobsleigh track was built, on which competitions of the XXII Winter Olympic Games were held [5] [6] .
The construction of four stages of a double cable car lasted from 1993 to 2001. In 2005, in parallel with the third stage of the lift, a modern four-chair cableway was built. There was also a training slope with a ski lift .
In 2006 - 2007 , the Alpika-Service ski resort became the subject of a conflict between its owners and the Governor of the Krasnodar Territory Alexander Tkachev . During this time, the cable car was closed several times at the request of regulatory authorities. According to the owners of Alpika, the authorities are trying to take away their successful business. [7] [8] [9]
In 2008, the Alpika-Service ski complex was acquired by Gazprom [10] . The deal amounted to $ 15 million, which, according to experts, is significantly less than the market value of the complex [11] .
