Story
The film describes the struggle of a poor family of Chinese fishermen who are forced to sing in the streets in order to survive, about the trials and tribulations that have befallen them.

Reception
The film, shown at the Moscow International Film Festival in 1935 , brought enormous fees (only in Shanghai did it go to leading theaters for 84 days in a row) [1] .
The Song of the Fishermen was the first Chinese film to receive a major award at an international film festival ( Moscow International Film Festival 1935 ) [2] .
