DOT No. 508 is a long-term firing point that was part of the first line of defense of the Kiev fortified area near the village of Moschun .
Construction
The construction was built in the period of 1929-1935 in the western part of the defense of Kiev in the depth of the defense to support the defensive structures at the forefront (such as DOT No. 502 ). DOT № 508 has 1 floor and three machine-gun embrasures for heavy machine guns, its class of resistance is “M2” , that is, it is able to withstand 1 hit of a 152-mm howitzer [1] .
Service
The fortification took part in the Patriotic War and was organizationally part of the 13th battalion defense area (BRO) of KiUR, covering the area of Moshun - Gorenko . In this BRO, long-term facilities were built tightly and had a fire connection with each other [1] . The construction garrison consisted of fighters of the 161st separate machine gun battalion of the KiUR [2] .
During the first general assault of KiUR , which was launched by the troops of the 29th Wehrmacht Army Corps on August 4, 1941, the DOT was on a quiet front area. During the second storming of the KiUR , which began on September 16, 1941, DOT No. 502 did not have combat contact with the enemy. On the afternoon of September 18, the troops of the 37th Army of the Southwestern Front receive an order-permit for leaving the city of Kiev and KiUR . The garrisons of long-term structures were among the last to leave on the left bank of the Dnieper River . Among them was the garrison DOT number 508. It is possible that the machine guns and internal equipment was disabled by the garrison. On the afternoon of September 19, the advance units of the 71st infantry division occupied the territory of the 13th BRO, without a fight, detaining only the Red Army soldiers - deserters and defectors . The circumstances of the undermining of DOT are unknown. Perhaps the German sappers blew up the DOT during the sweep after September 19, perhaps the building was destroyed during the fighting in the autumn of 1943 [2] .
Present
DOT is preserved in a damaged state.
