Service in the Imperial Navy
He graduated from individual midshipman classes with production on January 30, 1916 in the rank of midshipman . During the First World War, he served as watchman on the cruiser "Oleg" and the submarine "Tiger" . In 1917 he graduated from the Officer's diving class . After graduation, he served as a mine officer in the Tiger submarine.
Service in the Red Army
After the October Revolution, Zhdan-Pushkin continued to serve as senior assistant commander of the Tiger submarine, and participated in the Ice Campaign . From April 1918 to May 1919 he commanded the submarine Leopard . In May 1919 he was appointed commander of the submarine Jaguar . In June 1922 he was appointed commander of the submarine "Comrade". At the same time, in 1923-1924 he commanded the 1st submarine division. In 1920-1924, on the job, he studied at the Naval Academy .
In November 1924, Zhdan-Pushkin was appointed head of the organizational and mobilization department of the Operations Directorate of the Red Army Headquarters. In 1926-1927 he commanded a submarine division in the Black Sea. In October 1927 he was appointed head of the tactical department of the 1st Directorate of the Naval Forces of the Red Army.
In March 1928, Zhdan-Pushkin was appointed commander of the 2nd division of the Baltic Fleet submarine brigade, consisting of four Bars submarines and the Red Star gunboat. In 1928-1934 he commanded the 5th division of the Baltic Fleet submarine brigade.
In January 1934, Zhdan-Pushkin was appointed lecturer at the S. M. Kirov Diving Squad. Appointed the chief of the operational-tactical cycle of special courses for command personnel at the Diving Squad named after S. M. Kirov , awarding the rank of captain of the 1st rank on April 27, 1939 [2] . In April 1940, 1st-rank captain Zhdan-Pushkin was appointed head of the department of tactics and anti-submarine defense courses for officers at the Diving Squad named after S. M. Kirov. On July 22, 1944, by a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, he was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor [3] . Also “for long-term and perfect service” he was awarded the Order of Lenin [4] and two Orders of the Red Banner [5] [6] .
