History
For a long time these lands belonged to the archbishop of Kaloch. After the expulsion of the Turks in the 1720s, they were settled by German colonists, and gradually a town was formed here. After the Second World War, a significant part of the German population went to Germany, nevertheless, a large German-speaking national minority still lives here.
In 1970, Hayosz lost the status of "city", and became a "big community." From July 1, 2008, he again became a “city”.
Population
As of January 1, 2016, 3013 people lived in the city.
