The Norwegian Footballer of the Year is the annual rewarding of the best professional footballers in Norway under the auspices of the Norwegian Football Association following a survey of Norwegian footballers. From 1990 to 2013, the prize was called "Kniksen" in honor of the football player Roald "Knicksen" Jensen . The winners received a statuette from the sculptor Per Unga. Since 2014, the award is called the Golden Ball.
The largest number of awards (3 each ) received Rune Bratset and John Carew . The coaches ( Egil Roger Ulsen and Nils Arne Eggen ) and the women football representatives ( Hege Riise and Ada Hegerberg twice) received the award twice.
