Zaitsev, Evgeny Vladimirovich (theologian)

Evgeny Vladimirovich Zaitsev was born on November 3, 1955 in the village of Tarasovka in the Rostov Region, USSR, in the family of a clergyman of the SDA Church. He is a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Christian Church in the fourth generation. His father, Vladimir Stepanovich, and grandfather were ministers of the Adventist Church; mother, Klara Filippovna, is a seamstress, taught at the courses “Fashion Design”.

Family

Wife: Zaitseva Valentina Alekseevna, works as a librarian.

Children: sons: Oleg, Eugene and Peter.

In 1978 he graduated from the Gorky State Medical Institute with a degree in pediatrics.

After graduating from the medical institute, he worked as a pediatrician in Kalinin, Yasnogorsk, and Tula.

In 1985 he was invited to serve in the Church. Engaged in work with youth, was the youth leader of the Russian Union of the SDA Church.

In 1988, he left medical practice, having received an invitation to teach from the Zaoksky Theological Seminary. In the same year he was ordained a priest in the Church of the SDA.

In addition to medical education, he received a theological education. He graduated from MA (Religion MA) and doctoral programs (PhD) from Andrews University (USA). In 1998 he defended his doctoral dissertation ^{[1] [2]} . He also has a Master of Public Health (MPH) from Loma Linda University (USA) and a Ph.D. in Philosophy ^[3] .

He was rector of the Zaoksky Theological Academy ^[4] .

In 2003-2009, he headed the Zaoksky Christian Humanitarian and Economic Institute, which received state accreditation ^[5] .

Currently, director of the Institute for Bible Studies and director of the Institute for Bible Translation. M.P. Kulakova.

Actively participates in various events, disputes ^{[2] [6]} and scientific and practical conferences ^{[7] [8] [9]} .

He is the author of ten books and monographs ^{[1] [10]} , (the current historical and theological study “Dialogue with the Orthodox Believers”) and more than 100 scientific articles ^[11] . For example, the book of E. V. Zaitsev, “The Teachings of V. Lossky on Theosis,” revealing the teachings and views of Vladimir Lossky, one of the brightest thinkers of 20th-century Orthodox theology, provoked a response and discussion among Protestant and Orthodox scholars ^[12] .
