Biography
Dorothea Wilma Davis (real name of the actress) was born on June 3, 1921 in the town of Saint-Boniface [3] ( Manitoba , Canada ). Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Davis [4] . While still a teenager, Dorothy worked as a fashion model for Creed's , and store catalogs.
In 1938, 17-year-old Dorothy, along with her "backstage" mother Eva, immigrated to the United States. They settled in the exquisite Tudor City neighborhood in the East Side ( Manhattan , New York ). Dorothy got a photo model for the actor and founder of the modeling agency, (1892-1977). She could be seen on the catwalks of high fashion salons, she was shot for a number of fashion and entertainment magazines.
In 1939, Dorothy won Samuel Goldwyn 's Talent Gate to Hollywood talent contest [4] . After receiving the contract, Dorothy with her mother, husband and baby son went to the other end of the country, to Hollywood . They settled in the city of Culver City . In the same year, the girl first appeared on the screens: in the short film βFor Your Convenience,β she played the small role of a model without captions. The next time Dorothy starred in the movie only five years later, then from 1944 to 1956, she starred a lot and continuously: during these twelve years, the actress appeared in sixty films and TV shows. In 1956, her career as an actress was over, Patrick devoted herself to raising two teenage sons and returned to New York, settling in its suburbs. In 1961, Dorothy returned to California, settling in West Hollywood . Later, she appeared only once, in 1966, in , and then in a small role without indication in the credits.
Dorothy Patrick died on May 31, 1987, short of three days before her 66th birthday, at the in ( Los Angeles ). The cause of death was cancer. An actress was buried at the Westwood Cemetery [5] .
Personal Life
- In April 1939, the 17-year-old Dorothy Davis married the famous hockey player [6] (1912-1980). Two years later, a divorce followed, the son of Les Patrick [5] (1939β1996), as well as his last name for life.
- In 1943, Patrick married for the second time, her beloved βstar dentistβ from Beverly Hills, Dr. Sterling Trevling Bowen. In 1948, a divorce ensued, and a son remained from this marriage, who was given the name Terry Bowen [5] (born 1944).
- March 16, 1955 Patrick married for the third time, her choice was a man named J. Hugh Davis. The marriage lasted eight years, followed by another divorce, they did not have children.
- On April 18, 1976, Patrick married the fourth time, a man named Harold Hammerman became her chosen one. The couple lived together eleven years before the death of the actress, they had no children.
