Vasily Popovich ( 1833 - 1897 ) - Bulgarian poet and journalist.
Born in Braille on October 18, 1833 .
In 1851-1856 he studied at the 2nd Kiev gymnasium. In 1857 he became a student at Kiev University , but was forced to leave for his homeland.
Then he studied at the expense of the Slavic Charity Society "with benefits from c. A. S. Uvarova ”at the historical-philological faculty of Moscow University [1] .
He worked as a teacher in various cities in Bulgaria and Romania, was a member of the "educational council" in the Bulgarian Ministry of Education. His poems were published in the newspapers “Bratsky Labor”, “General Labor”, “Bulgarian Bee” (1863), “Shutosh” (1873), “Maritsa” (1878), “Bulgarian Glas” (1880), “Vitosha” (1879 ), "The Peasant" (1879), "The Balkans" (1883), and others. His best poems were published in his collection of "Children’s Gusla." His poems were placed in all educational Bulgarian anthologies. In 1859, he wrote a poem, "Monologue or Mislie against Vladik Hilarion before and burn out the Bulgarian books from the bookkeeper at the Turnovsk Metropolitanate." His most critical articles were published in the periodicals and reading room magazines, which he founded with Bonchev in 1870.
He died on August 17, 1897 in Sofia .
