Born March 28, 1951 in Leningrad. Grandson of geographer Vladimir Nikolayevich Tagantsev , great-grandson of Senator Nikolai Stepanovich Tagantsev .
In 1974 he graduated from Leningrad State University.
Until 1993, he worked at the Physicotechnical Institute. A.F. Ioffe RAS , where he headed the laboratory of physics of ferroics. Since 1993, he worked in the ceramics laboratory of the Lausanne Federal Polytechnic School . A famous theoretician in a wide field of physics, from ferroelectricity and phonon physics to the electrodynamics of superconductors. Author and co-author of more than 250 scientific articles and two monographs. Leading megagrant scientist Currently - Professor Emeritus.
