Description
Evergreen shrub, 1-1.5 (2.5) m high. Shoots are angular, finely pubescent (especially at the beginning) or bare, annual red-brown, later gray. Spines 5 — separate [2] [3] .
The leaves are elliptical to obovate with rough spiky teeth along the edges, mainly in the upper part of the plate, dense-leathery, dark green above, shiny, light green below, 2-7.5 cm long and 1.2-2.5 long cm wide, petiole 2-6 mm long [2] [3] .
The inflorescence is an umbrella-shaped brush 2-7 cm long with 4-10 flowers. Flowers are 12–20 mm in diameter. Petals orange-yellow, rounded at the apex, stamen filament three times longer than anther. Ovule 5-6 on short legs [2] [3] .
The fruit is a berry, blue, with a plaque, obovate, with a short column [2] [3] .
Distribution and Ecology
The species range is located in South America in Patagonia (Argentina and Chile) [2] [3] .
Blossoms in the homeland in November. Blooms on the Black Sea coast in May; bears fruit [3] .
