Biography
Uta Abe is the sister of a competing judoka in the weight category up to 66 kg two-time world champion Hifumi Abe. [one]
Abe became the youngest judoka to win the IJF Grand Prix (International Judo Federation): she won first place at the Dusseldorf Grand Prix in February 2016. [2]
She participated in the 2018 World Cup in Baku and won her first world champion title at the age of 18. Uta became the third youngest judoka in history to ever win the title of the best judoka on the planet. [3] First, Abe defeated the Polish judoka Carolina Penkovskaya, and then Fabienne Kocher from Switzerland. She then defeated Jessica Pereira from Brazil, and then in the semifinals she defeated Amandine Bouchard from France in less than 40 seconds. In the final, Abe met with compatriot and current champion of the world Ai Sisime and won a gold medal.
