Purpose
The Coast Guard of Turkey is designed to ensure safe life and compliance with national and international laws in the inland (Sea of Marmara, Bosphorus and Dardanelles) and territorial waters of Turkey. In peacetime, the coast guard is under the command of the Turkish Ministry of Internal Affairs, but in critical situations and during the war it passes under the command of the Turkish Navy [1] .
Command
The forces and equipment of the Coast Guard are subordinate to the command of the Turkish National Command, which is territorially located in Ankara . The coast guard command (headquarters in Ankara) in peacetime is subordinate to the Ministry of the Interior. All types of logistical support, selection and training of personnel, repair and maintenance of boats, other weapons and equipment is carried out through the relevant Navy services. The BOHR performs the functions of the national maritime border service and is a reserve of the Navy. In an endangered period or with the outbreak of war, the BOHR becomes subordinate to the Navy.
Structure
The structure of the BOHR includes four coast guard commands of the regions (the Black , Marmara, Aegean and Mediterranean Seas ) and the command of the naval aviation group. The command of the Turkish military command and control organization includes four regional commands, including:
- the command of the Bokhr district of the Black Sea (command of the groups of the districts Trabzon , Samsun , Amasra );
- command of the Bokhr region of the Sea of Marmara and the straits (command of the groups of districts Istanbul , Canakkale );
- command of the AEC of the Aegean Sea (command groups of the districts of Izmir , Marmaris );
- command of the BOHR of the Mediterranean region (command of the groups of the districts of Antalya , Mersin , Iskenderun ).
In addition, the command of the Coast Guard of Turkey is subordinate to the aviation command of the Bokhr, the training command of the Bokhr, as well as the command of the training center of the Bokhr. The aviation command includes one aviation and one helicopter squadron. The number of personnel of the Turkish coast guard is about 1100 people.
