International Day of Lefties

Day of left-handers, August 13, 2002

International Lefty Day ( Eng. International Lefthanders Day ) is an unofficial holiday that is dedicated to people, preferably using their left hand . Celebrated annually on August 13th .

This day was first marked on August 13, 1976 at the initiative of Lefthanders International . According to some reports, for the first time, the Day of Lefty was celebrated on August 13, 1992, on the initiative of the British Left-Hander Club established two years before [1] .

The purpose of the action is to draw the attention of manufacturers of various equipment to the problems of left-handers: when working on equipment for right-handers, left-handers make movements unnatural for them, as a result they are more likely to get nervous and muscular stress . As a result, according to a study conducted in the USA in 1991 , left-handers often die in industrial accidents [1] .
