Biography
Dmitry Timofeevsky was born on September 11 (23), 1852 in the village of Khotiml of the Kovrovsky district of Vladimir province in the family of a priest [1] . He studied at the Suzdal Theological College and Vladimir Theological Seminary [2] . He entered the medical faculty of Moscow University , graduated from the course in 1878 with a doctor ’s degree [1] .
He worked in the Moscow province as a zemstvo doctor. In 1881 he became the city doctor of the Pavlovsky Posad in the Moscow province. In 1883, he was appointed supernumerary junior official at the Medical Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and was engaged in scientific development at Moscow University . In the laboratory of Professor F. P. Sheremetevsky, under the guidance of Professor L. Z. Morokhovets, he completed the scientific work “On the Relationship between the Blood Pressure in the Veins (Lower Hollow and Renal) and the Definition of Urine,” for which in 1888 he was awarded the degree of Doctor of Medicine. Since 1891, he served in St. Petersburg as a prospector of general pathology at the Military Medical Academy . At the same time from 1892 to 1895 he was a private teacher of physiology at the feldsher military school [1] .
In 1895 he was appointed an extraordinary professor at Tomsk University to the Department of General Pathology, since 1903 - an ordinary professor . I taught a course of general pathology. He was engaged in research in the field of pathology and general biology. He wrote a number of works on the study of blood and lymph [1] .
He died in Tomsk on July 16 (29), 1903 from pleural endothelioma. He was buried in the cemetery of the John the Baptist Monastery [1] .
Family
Wife - Julia Alexandrovna (in the nee Ponosova, circa 1861-1935). They had 4 sons and 3 daughters. One of the sons, Alexander Timofeevsky (1887-1985), became a major oncologist and pathophysiologist [1] .
